VACANCIES
Raft building can be done on many levels, from producing a raft to carry a soft toy across a paddling pool, to a raft to carry the whole team across a lake or down a river. It traditionally involves building a raft from various objects, usually pioneering poles, ropes and barrels. We also use our canoes to form a strong, safe base for rafting.

What can you achieve?

If successfully completed each participant will receive a NWAC Raft Building Certificate.

Over and above this certificate, the activity promotes team work, leadership, communication and cooperation skills as well as testing out the groups knowledge of knots and the concepts of building items from scratch.

Who is it for?

This can be for your school, youth group or even a birthday party

Depending on your requirements, we will design the session to meet your needs.

A typical raft building session

The group is split into teams. Each team is given various objects to build their rafts, usually pioneering poles, ropes and barrels.

Everyone is then taught a few knots that will come in very useful when building the raft. In their teams each group is given an hour to build a raft that is substantial enough to support all the group down a river. The first unsinkable raft down the river wins!
