| As part of the development of the Bride Street Area in Newbiggin, the
Club were approached to see if we were agreeable to some form of artistic
work to break up the bland appearance of the front of our Clubhouse extension
and improve the appearance of the area for the benefit of the community. |
Regular visitors will be aware that we already have some tile mosaic
in the area along with areas for seasonal plants and flowers so we were
more than happy to agree to cooperate with such an initiative, providing
it would not impose a financial burden on the Club |
 |
| After discussions, it was decided that some form of painting (suitably
protected from the elements) would be appropriate and grant funding has
now been offered by the Inspire Public Art Project along with Newbiggin
LIFE. |

|
In conjunction with the club an artist has been commissioned for the
work.
The artists' name is Guiliana Lazzerini and she will be commencing work
on the painting in May. An example of her work (Tuscan Harbour) can be
seen here. |
 |
Guiliana Lazzerini recently visited Newbiggin and the Club to gain background
knowledge and inspiration for the work and she can be seen here enjoying
a social evening with Club members. |
We will add further pictures and information as the
project develops. |
