Newbiggin Sailing Club is an RYA affiliated sailing club, formed in 1962 by local enthusiasts. The south facing bay provides excellent sea-sailing opportunities and as we launch from the beach we can sail at any state of the tide.

New members are always welcome, whatever their age, ability or sailing experience. Younger sailors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We try to offer all potential sailors the ability to get on the water without significant financial outlay.

We have a recently extended and well appointed clubhouse occupying most of four floors of the former Mechanic's Institute. The faciilities include:

The club makes its rooms available to the local community at reasonable rates and welcomes enquiries from individuals and organisations.

Our dinghy park, nearby on the promenade, provides storage for:

The club has examples of several classes of dinghies which are available to members, ranging from Toppers, through Laser Picos and 420s to a Topper Omega. Enterprises sailing

Club members boats belong to several classes with Enterprises being the most common. Other classes represented are Dart 16 catamarans, Xenon, Laser and GP14. Racing is on a handicap basis and the photo of the two enterprises on the right admirably illustrates the enthusiasm for racing which exists within the club.
